The Chrysalis

A songwriter's blog about songwriting

Leslie Hudson has been writing songs for 30 years, with 10 solo albums, an instrumental EP, and 2 band albums to her name.

She's participated in international songwriting challenges collaborating with musicians all over the world, which led her to co-write a rock musical, and complete a pop culture album from concept to submission in 6 weeks.

Storytelling is at the heart of every song she writes and every album she constructs, whether it's folk, rock, metal, Irish, chant, blues, or the tapestry of her mind where they intersect.

Let's talk the craft of songwriting, why we write songs at all, where they come from, and what they mean.
